“Service and Philanthropy”

Alpha Kappa Chapter at Duquesne University is dedicated to helping students of all ages in a variety of capacities.  This semester our chapter donated used crayons to the Crayon Initiative, which uses the donated crayons to create new ones.  The new crayons are donated to schools, hospitals, and various organizations.

The chapter also made meals for pediatric cancer patients at the Ronald McDonald house at the Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital.  Members are also encouraged to participate in relevant university activities such as donations for a raffle basket and Mini-Thon.  In addition, the Executive Board provided lectures about the importance of behaving in a professional manner in daily life, in field, and on social media.  We hope to continue our dedication to service and possibly start a philanthropy event next semester.
